Those look like "open" felt caps, they probably vent better than the originals.................... no "chuffing" that some golden ears have claimed to hear from the vented paper caps.
Does that cone number begin with a "W"?
Perhaps Waldam cone kits?
Not the worst sounding parts you could put in there. But, certainly not as good as the originals or even the mordern day replacements from Bill.
I pretty much agree with the value assessment, without the right parts they're not really 416-8B's.

the seller messaged me back. he said the number on the cones match up with altec #s. i'll message him back and ask about the W.

Still could be a hack job if an incompetent installed them. Didn't look like Altec numbers but EV changed them several times. I WILL tell you absolutely they are NOT the originals, since if they are altec they are 20 years newer than the speakers..Originally Posted by Phil-G
